Hydrophilic water-soluble nanorods
Spectral characteristics of water-soluble nanorods approach those for hydrophobic except of slightly less emission quantum yield (ca. 20%). Being attached via electrostatic interaction or chemical bonding to the nano object the nanorods may serve as polarization sensitive optical indicator on preferential orientation of nano objects, for example DNA molecules etc.*
Upon a request we may supply also water-soluble CdSe/ZnS core-shell nanorods with carboxylic groups on the surface. Our water-soluble nanorods emit nearly 100% polarized light and may be utilized as unique fluorescent markers for biology and medicine.
